How it works

  1. Open Word Scramble and choose a category, General, Animals, Food and drink, Travel, Verbs or Mixed, or paste your own words under Teacher: use your own words, one per line or separated by commas, and press Use my words.
  2. Choose 60 seconds, 90 seconds, 2 minutes or no timer, and press Start.
  3. Type the word and press Check or Enter. Hint shows the first letter and the length; Skip shows the answer and moves on.
  4. Each word is worth 10 points, or 5 with a hint, and three right in a row starts a streak.

Ideas for your lesson

  • Warm up with last lesson’s vocabulary as a whole-class race on the board.
  • Let teams take turns calling out answers and keep score with Team Points in Classroom Games.
  • Students play on their own phones and compare scores at the end.

Good to know

  • Your own words need three letters or more and are not saved; Play again starts fresh, so keep the list in a document.
  • The built-in lists hold 79 words across five categories.
  • It needs only www.abcwebsites.online.
