How it works in class
- Each person works through seven areas, from devices and searching online to safety and creating content, and answers each statement with I can do this, I’m learning or I need help.
- They click See my results to get a level for each area (Confident, Building or Just starting), a chart of their strengths and a suggested next step.
- They print the results card to keep, or to hand in to you.
Ideas for your lesson
- Run it in the first week of an adult education or ESOL course to plan who needs support with what.
- Use it before a unit on online safety to see who needs the basics first.
- Ask staff or volunteers to complete the Supporting Others section before they help learners with digital tasks.
- Repeat it at the end of term and compare the two results cards.
- Turn each learner’s next steps into goals for a one-to-one tutorial.
Why teachers use it
- It is aligned with the EU DigComp 2.2 framework, with an extra section for staff who support others.
- The tone is friendly: the tool says there are no wrong answers, and there is no mark out of 100.
- Answers stay in the learner’s browser. Nothing is sent to a server or collected in one place.
- The interface works in English and Italian.
Frequently asked questions
Which plan includes the Digital Skills Check?
The Special plan (€19 a month) and every plan above it. It is not part of the free tier.
Do I see my learners’ results automatically?
No. Each learner prints their results card and hands it in. The answers are not sent to a server.
What if a learner skips a question?
The tool warns them first. If they go ahead, unanswered statements count as I need help.
What does the Supporting Others section cover?
Five statements for staff who help others with digital tasks, such as guiding someone without taking over their device and knowing where to refer people for help you cannot give.
