How it works
- Choose euro, pound or dollar and enter the take-home income you want per year.
- Enter billable days per week, billable hours per day, weeks off per year and business costs per year.
- Enter tax and social contributions as a percentage of gross income, and a profit buffer.
- Read the recommended hourly rate and day rate, with the billable days and hours per year and how the total you must bill is built up.
How it calculates
Billable days are your days per week times the weeks you work in a year. The gross income you need is your take-home target plus business costs, divided by what is left after tax. The profit buffer goes on top, and the total is divided by your billable hours and days. Tax is treated as one flat effective rate, so it is a planning estimate, not tax advice.
Ways to use it
- Private teachers and tutors: price a lesson from the hourly figure.
- Compare a four-day and a five-day billable week before you quote.
- Use it in a business English lesson on pricing and negotiation.
Good to know
- It is a planning estimate, not tax or financial advice.
- Nothing is saved. Anonymous usage counts go to Plausible analytics.
- It needs only www.abcwebsites.online.

No. Tax is treated as one flat effective rate. It is a planning estimate.
